Geocache Description:

Finally, a geocache where "degrees" means something more than a measure of latitude and longitude!

Here's your chance to break up that monotonous drive through the desert!

Halfway between Barstow and Las Vegas sits the little community of Baker, California, home to the World's Tallest Thermometer.

To receive credit for this cache, you must physically touch the thermometer (honor system applies). Driving by on I-15 doesn't count! There are lots of great photos with the logs... can you top them?

The thermometer was turned off in September 2012 to save energy. On March 10, 2014, the thermometer was purchased by the family of its original owners, who are fixing it ("The Big Fix") and turned it back on ("The Great Turn On") on July 10, 2014 to celebrate the 101st anniversary of the world's hottest temperature in nearby Death Valley.

Progress of the continued renovation is available at www.worldstallestthermometer.com.

When you make your log entry, be sure to indicate what the temperature was when you visited!
