Hoje, para a maioria, a tecnologia que usamos para fazer geocaching, parece algo que sempre existiu. Nem nos lembramos que alguém, algo, foi necessário para dar os primeiros passos.
E para o geocaching, o passo mais importante, aquele que permitiu o aparecimento da actividade como a conhecemos, foi a decisão tomada em 1 de Maio de 2000, de se retirar o “filtro”, designado por “Selective Availability”, que impedia a utilização civil (não militar) do sinal de GPS com a precisão actual.
Dois dias depois surgiu a primeira cache, uma lata colocada num bosque em Portland, Oregon, nos EUA por Dave Ulmer.
Depois, bom, depois é o que se vê. Um hobby suportado por uma tecnologia cada vez mais rica, que se pratica em todo o mundo por milhares de pessoas unidas em www.geocaching.com
Este evento é a nossa contribuição para a celebração dessa data. Novamente estamos a preparar algo diferente e contamos com a vossa presença. Pela primeira vez o evento terá a duração de quatro dias e incluirá um programa rico em actividades (caminhadas, feira de geocoins e outros trackables) que serão apresentadas em detalhe logo que encontremos o formato final.
Durante toda a duração do evento estarão disponiveis no espaço principal diversos stands com mostras gastronómicos de varios ponto do país. Durante o evento serão efectuados diversos sorteios entre os presentes.

Today, for most, the technology we use to geocaching, it seems something that always existed. Neither we remember that someone or something was needed to get started.
And for geocaching, the most important step, one that allowed the emergence of this activitie as we know, was the decision on May 1, 2000, to withdraw the "filter", called "Selective Availability", which prevented use civil (not military) GPS signal with currentprecision.

Then, well, then that's what you see. A hobby supported by a technology increasingly rich, which is practiced worldwide for thousands of people united in www.geocaching.com.
This event is our contribution to the celebration of this date. Again we are preparing something different and we arecountingwith your presence. For the first time the event will last for four days and include a rich program of activities (hiking, fair trackables Geocoins and others) that will be presented in detail as soon as we find the final format.
Throughout the duration of the event will be available on the main space several stands of Portuguese Traditions. During the event various sweepstakes will be conducted among those present.
