Geocache Description:

A quick cache that let's you appreciate the depth of this flood bowl before you.

Cache is hidden using a typical Spycraft dead-drop method

In the early part of 2009 the heat turned up to 11 in late January and led to record-breaking high temperatures in Victoria. This heat wave was considered one of the most extreme in Melbourne, which recorded its highest-ever temperature on record, 46.4 °C. Victoria recorded an all-time record twelve consecutive days over 43 °. As a result this fateful night the suburbs were hit by a torrential “1 in a 100 year” downpour that exceeded the drainage systems capacity to cope. This bowl in the gully of Lynwood Parade soon filled, overflowed the embankment, and submerged a large part of the road below.
A traveler unfamiliar with the street, drove into the flat expanse of water in the reduced visibility thinking it was the continuation of the road. Upon realising his predicament as the engine stalled with the vehicle partially submerged, the weight of the water prevented the doors opening, thoughts of escape we're hampered by the failure of the electrical systems ability to operate the windows!
As the rising water level rapidly reduced his breathable air pocket, and being unable to break the glass, it was only a matter of time before his oxygen supply would be exhausted.
Emergency services arrived like a knight in shining armor in the nick of time, called by the motorist who was next on the scene as the drama unfolded.

This seat is right about at the "high tide mark" of that fateful evening, before the footpath was installed and the drainage system was massively upgraded. You should be safe unless the blackberries are in season!

No room for swaps, BYO pencil
