Geocache Description:

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes of the Battle for the Caches, ‘Clare Caching Capers’ is born.

On the June long weekend, 8/9/10, at Clare Caravan Park, cachers are invited to attend the event of the year! Well, the event for that week anyway………

On Friday night or early Saturday morning (depends when everyone arrives), straws will be drawn to determine two teams. On Saturday, a pre-determined number of caches will be hidden (possibly in the form of tokens?), and virtual cache details noted. The Main North Road will be used as a line of demarcation, with one team staying east of it and one team staying west. On Saturday night we will all sit around and boast about how the other team will NEVER get them all, and also perhaps have a few Clare Valley soft drinks. On Sunday, teams will swap sides of the Main North Road, and it’s ‘Happy Hunting’ everyone! Sunday night will be the time for making up excuses as to why your team didn’t get all the hidden tokens or virtual information……and a few more soft drinks.

As at March 13th, the Clare Caravan Park (88422724) still had ensuite and standard cabins available, and at a reasonable price, and of course powered and camping sites. However, Clare is a very popular long weekend destination, and we would suggest you book as soon as you can. The undercover pavilion with fireplace and barbeque sounds like an excellent spot to talk about ‘the one that got away’, and there is also an enclosed room if the weather is inclement.

Please log this page to indicate your interest. So that further planning can be done, and the skiting start early, a topic called Clare Caching Capers has been started here.

So put your thinking caps on, and come up with some innovative and fun places to hide caches and note virtuals. Bear in mind you will not know which side of the Main North Road you are hiding yours until the day. Specialised equipment is not permitted. Anyone swearing that they really do need a 5m extension ladder to put up their tent, will be viewed with suspicion.
