Geocache Description:

Weston Aquaduct Framingham 1 is the first geocache placed on the newly opened Weston Aquaduct which is now available for public hiking.

Framingham and other towns in the area are full of wonderful paths which up until now have been off limits. These paths are on the old aqueducts that bring water from the reservoirs to the west eastward to Boston and other surrounding cities and towns. Framingham alone has many miles of these aqueducts.

Now, for the first time, one small portion of these aqueducts is open to the public. It's a 1.1 mile long segment, starting at Elm Street on the east and passing several other streets before ending at the corner of Potter and Water Streets. It's a nicely wooded trail and makes for a pleasant walk.

No real parking is available, though you can park alongside the roads at several places where the trail crosses. The closest real parking is at the Pinefield Shopping Center on Water Street near Central. From there you could hike up Elm, walk the entire aqueduct trail east to west and return on Water Street, for a nice triangular path of probably about 2.5 miles.

The cache is a typical nano, hidden in a typical place. I'm sure you won't have much trouble finding it, the main reason for the cache is to let others know about this new trail. Given the size of the cache there is no pen provided so be sure to bring your own.
