"La Chapelle Saint-Roch se trouve sur le site boisé de Mont Sauvy. Une croix en contrebas à été dressée en 1803 pour témoigner du renouveau religieux qui a succédé à la révolution. Saint Roch, né à la fin du XIII° siècle et qui, toute sa vie durant, a œuvré en faveur des pestiférés, a sa chapelle sur ce site, érigée au XVII° siècle et agrandie en 1720. Cette année- là, une épidémie de peste terrible désole la Provence. A Orgon, ce fléau fait des victimes, mais le nombre des morts a été jugé faible par rapport aux communes avoisinantes. Les Orgonnais avec leurs consuls firent alors le vœu, pour remercier la Providence de les avoir délivrés de ce péril, d’organiser le 16 août de chaque année une procession solennelle jusqu’à la chapelle Saint-Roch".
