On the edge of Mount wood in the Chess Valley near Sarratt,
Hertfordshire.
This was The Hornet's first cache and he thought it would be good
to place it on one of his favourite walks in South Hertfordshire.
Although it can be reached by a short walk if you park at
51°40.740'N, 0°31.084'W I would suggest parking at 51°40.216'N,
0°30.125'W and following the 2.5 mile circular footpath. This will
offer some splendid views over the Chess Valley.
It would make a lot of sense to combine this one with Hornet's Hide
3 which is only pleasant half mile stroll away and is on the way if
you park at 51°40.216'N, 0°30.125'W.
If you choose to park close the cache drive into the village of
Chenies and take the small road marked "Unsuitable for motors" from
just off the village green. Don't worry, it will take cars without
any trouble although it is narrow. One word of warning, don't try
and drive through the ford as the road on the other side is
private. From the parking spot look for the footpath signposted
Chenies Green.
The cache is the usual 2L tupperware box and is hidden just off a
popular footpath so look out for other walkers.
