Short but steep hike on HALT trail off Greenwood Rd.
This short but rugged trail winds along a wooded ridge behind several houses on Greenwood Road. The trail was named after Douglas B. Sands, a Hopkinton science teacher and naturalist. Opposite the houses the trail overlooks a deep ravine. At the end of this short trail is another set of trails that leads up to the Hopkinton Lookout GC10DTM cache (see that cache for details). A hike to the lookout allows a dramatic view to the northwest.
Posted coordinates are for gravel parking off Greenwood Rd. Trailhead is close by. At trailhead enter the woods and hike up the hill to a well camouflaged S1, and then a short hike to final. Final is a small cache. Rehide well with sticks and leaves as this trail gets much traffic from hikers and neighbors.
Congrats to hotwcnyy for FTF!
