Every station should have its own Sidetracked cache so here is one for East Kilbride Station. You can park in the car park here to make it a cache and dash or pick it up whilst waiting on a train.
East Kilbride train station opened in 1868 and steam trains operated here until 1966. In 1888 the line was extended to Hunthill Junction, near High Blantyre. This remained open until the Second World War, after which the line was cut back to Nerston where it serviced some local industries such as Mavor and Coulson Mining Equipment. In recent years, East Kilbride station seems to be getting more popular with 0.7 million using the station in 2005 increasing to 1.1 million in 2009.
You can access this cache either by parking in the station car park which is free to use, but can be very busy during the week. The cache should be accessible to wheelchair users if you are able to reach to ground level.
Please bring a pen and replace the cache exactly as found.
