Black Caviar - a Sol de lune Tribute Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Toy Hunters: Came to check to see if this had been muggled and alas, it definately has. The intentions of this cache were to highlight the "Sol de Lune style" cache that I won at his event a few years ago, so unfortunately that major highlight is gone. This cache had an awesome life and I thank everyone that found it and tributed to a still renowned Canberra caching legend!

Geocache Description:

A cache dedicated to one of Canberra’s well known cachers – Sol de lune! The cache is not at the posted coordinates, but it’s a good place to park.

On the 16th of September 2012, the toy hunters and many other cachers attended one of Sol de lune’s events, “Spring Time – Trivia Time” – GC3V40Z. It was a trivia event all about caching. I managed to claim first prize, which was two caching containers. We decided that we would use one of the containers to dedicate a cache to him.

You may be wondering why I named this cache after the famous racehorse, “Black Caviar”. Sol de lune (which by the way is French for “Sun and Moon”) part owned a racehorse for which he had originally suggested the name “Sol de lune”. Unfortunately his suggestion didn’t win the vote, so in memory of this he took it as his caching name instead. The horse was trained by Peter Moody, Black Caviar’s trainer, and we have often reminded Sol that he could well have been known as “Black Caviar” if his luck had’ve been in.

Anyway, let’s get started! To figure out the coordinates for GZ, you need to answer a few questions about Sol de lune. You will be able to find his profile in many places on Geocaching.com. You need to substitute letters for numbers. The numbers will be used in the final coordinates. NOTE: When you have to answer a question about a certain date, the format is DD/MM/YYYY (the Australian way).

A = Sol de lune has been a member of Geocaching.com since 2A/10/2007 (please note: this is not the day he found his first cache).
B = In Sol de lune’s '50 Must See Places' power trail, what number cache is New York City?
C = Sol de lune’s 2000th find was found on C1/08/2009.
D = Sol de lune found ACT’s first cache, 'Canberra Nature Park' (GC6CF) on D7/12/2007.
E = Which number in the 'Just for the Views' series of Sol de lune’s was hidden on 30/07/2009?
F = Sol de lune’s multi cache 'Is Anyone Home??' (GC3P5PW) was hidden on 24/0F/2012.

The cache should then be located at: S 35 20.ABC E 149 01.DEF

The cache is a nice hike that shouldn’t take too long. Please take your time to embrace the surroundings. The cache is a 200ml sistema with a few small swaps. Please beware of walking muggles as it’s a popular walking track, and is near an equestrian park, so it’s sort of related to the cache’s topic! Also beware of snakes in warmer seasons and watch your step as there may be cowpats or horse poo around. Have fun!

FTF honours go to mtrax!
