Geocache Description:

Small Clip lock Box room for TB's and swaps. This cache complies with the Geocaching guidelines for Dartmoor National Park. http://www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk/visiting/vi-enjoyingdartmoor/geocaching

This cache is located close to one of Dartmoor's many Granite Clapper Bridges. Most Clapper Bridges originate from Medieval times and were used by pack horses carrying Tin off the moors. Other examples can be found on Exmoor and Bodmin moor.

Clapper derives from a Anglo Saxon word 'Cleaca' meaning 'bridging the stepping stones'.

This Clapper Bridge straddles the River Avon.
