Geocache Description:

A small Lock & Lock container in a hidden gem of a Yorktown park.

Welcome to Hunter Brook Linear Park! I’ve lived in Yorktown for 18 years, and have been geocaching in Westchester since 2007. I thought I had seen every little pocket park around. But I didn’t run across this one until today!

Hunter Brook Linear Park is a modest (60 acre) preserve off Fox Tail Lane in Yorktown. The property belongs to The Westchester Land Trust.

I came here today as a chaperone for Mrs. Kennedy’s 6th grade science class at Mildred E. Strang Middle School. The kids had a great time performing a stream study, measuring water attributes and collecting macroinvertebrates.

I thought this beautiful little location could use a geocache to bring more people here, so I returned later in the day and placed one. I have included both the marked parking area and trailhead as additional coordinates. From parking, the trailhead is about 0.1 miles west. The cache is just off the marked white trail (which, as far as I can tell, is the only trail in the preserve).

Enjoy this peaceful location!
