Geocache Description:

Summary
The third wave of the Blackrock Power Trail heads from the West Pier of Dun Laoghaire Harbour south-east for 2km to Sandycove Beach. Cache 18 is on the Dun Laoghaire East Pier (but not too far out).

The Blackrock Power Trail Series (BRPT)
The series started its life in Idrone Terrace on Dublin Bay behind Blackrock Village and has now spread both north-west and south-east from the original Cache.  Caches range from an easy 1/1 D/T through to the hardest being a 3/4.

The rules of Geocaching are such that no cache can be within 160 metres (0.1 miles or 528 feet) of another cache... so you will find that the caches in this series are generally about 200 metres apart from each other.  There are also some other caches along the route that you may want to pick up as you go.

The Cache
The 18th cache in the BRPT series is not your normal type of cache container and takes you to a less-travelled grassy area surrounding the old bathing houses on the East Pier.  This side of the East Pier is not as common as the main walkway but it does afford some spectacular views of the crashing waves at high tide around the old Dun Laoghaire baths.

Good hunting!
