Le tulipier présent dans le parc de la Maison du Pays d’Argonne est l’un des seuls représentants de cette espèce sur le sol d'Argonne.
Il est surtout le symbole d’un épisode tristement célèbre survenu le 11 décembre 1914 au sein de ce parc.
Alors qu’une compagnie de soldats de l'Infanterie française profitait de quelques heures de répit à l’abri de cet arbre gigantesque, un obus allemand 105mm est venu s’abattre sur l’arbre et décimer la quasi-totalité de la troupe. Depuis cet épisode tragique le tulipier est surnommé l’arbre ensanglanté et domine le parc en signe d’hommage aux victimes.
Ce lieu est un hommage aux soldats morts pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, il s’agit d’un parc très bien entretenu, comme tous les lieux de recueillement. Soyez discrets, la cache est dans le parc.

The tulip tree in the park of the Maison du Pays d’Argonne is one of the only examples of this species to be found on Argonne soil. It is above all the symbol of a sadly famous episode that took place on 11th December 1914 in the park. While a company of French Infantry soldiers were enjoying a few hours’ respite under the shelter of this gigantic tree, a 105mm German shell came and hit the tree, annihilating almost the entire troop. Since this tragic episode, the tulip tree has been nicknamed the bloody tree, and it towers over the park, in tribute to the victims.
This place pays homage to the soldiers who died during the First World War. As with all places of reverence, the park is very well maintained. Be discreet, the cache is in the park.
