Geocache Description:

The place is called as the title suggests, Wied Znuber (Znuber Valley). It is not a very well known location to most local citizens. In 1654 Cesare Violandi from Valletta built a fortification wall in this valley ‘Wied Znuber’ in a location known as ‘Ras el Fucania’ to protect some land that he was given in the same valley by the Knights Order. This wall was certainly built to protect his land from pirates which could have set land from the sea.

Unfortunately, the current fortification wall is not the original one built in 1654, since this has been rebuilt by British Army during World War II.

Once at Halfar, park near the entrance of Ghar Hasan. There is a large area that could be used to park safely. It's an 800meter walk from there to the cache. Along the way, you will walk over the Hal Far cliffs with Filfla's view. Great place to be for a sunset :). The first part of the path to the cache is not too far from the edge of the cliff but no need to go that far as it is clearly visible. Make your way down until you find the stairs that take you straight down to the heart of the valley where you will find a small wall/bridge crossing the valley. This bridge leads to a metal ladder which you should use to go down from this wall. If you are afraid of ladders you have the option to walk yourself in the other direction of the valley which will lead to under the bridge, although this should be ideally avoided especially if it had just rained, raining or about to.

Make your way to the direction of the sea. At one point you will notice the terrain getting rougher and you should be able to spot two large rocks in the middle. This is where you should start your search. It is very well hidden with small rocks so as to avoid non-geocachers to find it. Please make sure to hide it very well. **This can also be reached if reaching the place by boat - it's roughly a 100meter walk from a close anchor point of your choice - careful of the reef.
** This cache can be done anytime but safer and more enjoyable during the day.
