This now defunct leat must have taken a great deal of planning and execution. It goes on through the Fernworthy Forest and would have fed water to the Birch Tor and Vitifer Mines - which were, of course, beyond the Morton Hampstead Road and Bennetts Cross. I wonder if they will ever be used again.
Because the wall/fence to the East of the cache is quite a barrier, it is best to use the gate/stile just above the East Dart Island at N50 36.939 W003 55.702 and then bite the bullet and go straight up!
