It's time for another event in Highlands Hammock State Park! We're expanding on our geocaching program and publishing a hundred new geocaches. So, be sure to get your GPSr loaded up and ready for a big day of caching in this BEAUTIFUL State Park! New geocaches will be publishing on November 2nd! This year we will also be expanding to the Seven Lakes property, just south of the Hammock on 635.
Will there be FOOD? YES! At 5PM we will have a POTLUCK Dinner! If you plan on eating with us, be sure to BRING A DISH TO PASS. We will be providing the main course!
What about LODGING? Highlands Hammock State Parks has plenty of camping options! Just be sure to make your reservations soon! If you reserve a campsite feel free to post your campsite number here. If camping isn't for you, there are a number of wonderful hotels in the area! Check out our Facebook page for more info!
CONTESTS AND GAMES:
We will kick off the day at 9AM with LET’S MAKE A DEAL! GEO-EDITION!
This year we will have a DUCK HUNT! This contest begins at 9AM and runs until 5PM. Highlands Hammock State Park has agreed to let us hide a DUCK DECOY in the park somewhere. If you can produce a photo of yourself with the duck by dinnertime you will win a special prize! Anachostic will be with the logbook all day and must SEE the photo before 5PM.
There will also be a PRIZE DRAWING. Local businesses and fellow geocachers have donated some awesome prizes! And all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly back to supporting the geocaching program at Highlands Hammock. Tickets will be available throughout the day and the drawing itself will take place during DINNER.
Pets are allowed in the park and camping. However, they are NOT allowed on boardwalks (this is a park rule and prevents Rover from becoming gator-bait)
