Le LINGE est un champ de bataille de la guerre 1914-1918, où un affrontement particulièrement meurtrier eut lieu entre le 20 juillet et le 15 octobre 1915, qui fit 17000 morts.
Ensuite, Français et Allemand restèrent face à face jusqu'au 11 novembre 1918.

[D] Der LINGEKOPF ist ein Schlachtfeld des Ersten Weltkrieges (1914-1918), auf dem zwischen dem 20. Juli 1915 und dem 15. Oktober 1915 besonders verlustreiche Kämpfe zwischen den Franzosen und den Deutschen stattfanden, bei denen 17 000 Soldaten beider Seiten ihr Leben verloren.
Auf diese Schlacht folgte ein bis zum 11. November 1918 dauernder Stellungskrieg zwischen de n deutschen und französischen Kräften.
