Dadford Dash Traditional Geocache
PhilosophicalArcher: Unfortunately, the cache container has gone missing. Rather than fabricating a new one, I have decided to archive this cache and create another cache nearby. Thank you to everyone who has visited over the past 5 or so years.

The Cache
The cache container is an aluminium tube measuring 40 mm x 90 mm (1.5 x 3.5 inches) located on the edge of Dadford, near the entrance to the National Trust's car park for the Deer Park at Stowe.
The container has room for a few small swaps or travel bugs.
When it was first placed it contained:
1 x Robot Dog Keyring
1 x Nail-clippers
1 x Unactivated Travel Bug Dog Tags (Please let me know when this bug is released)

The site is near a road so please keep an eye on any children geocaching with you.
Please don'e block access to the track or park on the road, there is parking available at waypoint given.

Dadford
The hamlet name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and refers to an old ford over the Dad. The stream, which still flows through the hamlet, has been dammed at various points along its course to create ornamental ponds and fish lakes. The path from the car park to the GZ travels along the top of one of these. The Haymanger, a fish pond upstream, is another, while downstream the 'Oxford Water', located either side of the avenue up to Stowe House, is probably the most impressive.
Although originally in the parish of Biddlesden, the hamlet was annexed to Stowe in the 17th century to provide extra living accommodation for the servants of the new manor house. Stowe House, now a school but open for tours, can be seen to the south-east from the GZ.
From the car park you can access Stowe Deer Park and the other areas around Stowe Landscape Garden that have unpaid entry. Why not combine a trip to this cache with bagging some of the others in the area, such as WHO'S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD WOLFE? (Bucks) (GCMYMK) or any of MKGees' Stowe series.
