Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of 5 caches that make up the "Horace Greeley History Hunt 2.0" created by the New Castle Historical Society, located in Chappaqua, NY,  to promote interest in local history and awareness of our town’s remarkable open land.  All five will be logged separately.  In each of the first four (found in any order), you will find a clue in the form of a token.  Take one token from each cache. Once you have all four, use them to find the fifth, bonus cache.

Warburg Park is 37 acres located just off Pinesbridge Road in the Millwood area.  It consists of 4 trails, the longest being 1.5 miles and the shortest .3 miles.  The Park is a lovely ramble through a sun-dappled, fern-filled stand of trees, down to a boggy area where there are bridges over the stickiest parts of the ground, with an algae-covered pond, through a rocky cut that is shady and mysterious.  It’s hard to really put a finger on why it is so nice, but it really is--a hidden gem.

In 1948 James & Bessie Rosenberg donated the land to New York State in memory of Felix M. Warburg.  Mr. Warburg (1871-1937) was a partner in Kuhn, Loeb & Co and was the leading advocate of a Federal Reserve System.  His Gothic Revival mansion built in 1908 in New York City became the permanent home of the Jewish Museum.  In 1963 the Taconic State Park Commission determined that the land was not large enough to develop for state purposes and donated the land to the town of New Castle for park and recreation purposes.  At that time the land was land-locked.  In 1988 the Town purchased 48 acres along Pinesbridge Road from Con Edison, a portion of which finally allowed access to Warburg Park.

This is a two-stage puzzle cache:  The header coordinates will not lead you to the cache but to another spot where you will find a clue to help you find the actual cache.  Good Luck!  Please remember to leave the clue from stage one behind! DO NOT TAKE IT WITH YOU! Also, each team should take only one token from the stage two cache.
