SÉRIE 'O BRASIL NAS COPAS DO MUNDO' - Jogador #5: Rivelino - "O Patada Atômica"
Em 2014, a Copa do Mundo de Futebol foi disputada no Brasil. Esta série de caches tem o objetivo de celebrar este evento e repassar a história da seleção brasileira nas Copas do Mundo, do Campeonato de 1958 ao Pentacampeonato de 2002 e, quem sabe, o Hexacampeonato em 2018, na Rússia.
Dado que estamos aqui falando de futebol, foram selecionados, para esta série, 11 jogadores, representativos de cada um dos 5 campeonatos ganhos pelo Brasil desde 1958. Para cada campeonato ganho, 2 jogadores, num total de 10 jogadores, dos quais 1 é goleiro. E, para representar o conjunto da obra brasileira nas copas do mundo, o Rei do Futebol: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, o Pelé.
A escolha dos jogadores obedeceu a um critério: a relevância ou representatividade daquele jogador para a história do futebol brasileiro, no humilde entendimento do owner desta série de caches! O objetivo não é montar a "seleção brasileira dos sonhos" pois este owner sabe que, a depender das preferências individuais de cada um, a discussão poderia ser eterna.

JOGADOR #5: Rivelino - "O Patada Atômica"
Roberto Rivelino nasceu no primeiro dia do ano de 1946, na cidade de São Paulo. Era filho de imigrantes italianos da região da provincia de Isernia. Sua carreira começou no futebol de salão jogando pelo Barcelona.
Barcelona? O Barça catalão!?!? Não...
Clube Atlético Barcelona da cidade de Sorocaba, interior do Estado de São Paulo! De lá, Rivelino passou a defender as cores do Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, da cidade de São Paulo. Foi lá que Rivelino ficou conhecido como "O Rei do Parque" (em referência ao campo de futebol que serve de casa ao Corinthians; Street View: S23 31.583 W046 34.166).
As décadas de 60 e 70 foram anos difíceis para o Corinthians, de escassez de campeonatos. Após as derrotas para os eternos rivais Palmeiras e São Paulo, em 1974, Rivelino mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro e passou a defender as cores do Fluminense carioca.
Certa vez, logo ao início de um jogo, Rivelino notou que o goleiro da equipe adversária estava ajoelhado fazendo suas preces e aproveitou o momento para arrematar diretamente contra o gol, dali mesmo do centro do gramado. Este episódio rende até hoje a Rivelino a fama de autor do gol mais rápido de toda a história. Dono de um potentíssimo chute de perna esquerda, foi na Copa de 1970, contra a Tchecoslováquia, que Rivelino ganhou seu famoso apelido, "Patada Atomica".

'BRAZIL IN THE WORLD CUPS' GEOCACHE SERIES
In 2014, the World Cup of Soccer took place in Brazil. The objective of this cache series is to celebrate that event and review the history of the Brazilian national team in the World Cups, from the first victory in 1958 up to the fifth one in 2002 and, who knows, the 6th one in 2018, in Russia.
Given that we’re speaking about football here, a total of 11 players were picked for this cache series, representing each one of the 5 world cups won by Brazil since 1958. For each championship won, 2 players; 10 in total, 1 of them a goalkeeper. And, representing the Brazilian national team assembled conquests in the World Cups, the King of Football: Edson Arantes do Nascimento, aka Pelé.
The players’ selection followed one criterion: the relevance or representativeness of each player to the Brazilian soccer history, in the humble opinion of this series’ cache owner! The objective is not to assemble the “all time Brazilian national dream team” because this owner know that, depending on each one’s particular preferences, there would be eternal discussion!
BTW: thinking on the development of a ‘tourist friendly’ cache series, any information needed to solve the mysteries in this cache series can be found in English over the internet – a nicely done Google search, even with an English input, will do it – believe me, I’ve tested it!
You may pursue the whole series in one single sequence or to pick your favorite players to go after, as you prefer. If you want to go after the whole series, it is recommended to do it in the same order of the players and to be prepared for a 3km walk

PLAYER #5: Rivelino - "The Atomic Kick"
Roberto Rivelino was born on the first day of the year 1946, in São Paulo. He was the son of Italian immigrants from the region of Isernia province. His career began in indoor soccer, playing for Barcelona.
Barcelona? Barça from Catalunya!?!? No. ..
Club Atlético Barcelona, from the city of Sorocaba, in the state of São Paulo! From there, Rivelino went on to defend the colors of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, from the city of São Paulo. It was there that Rivelino became known as "O Rei do Parque" ("The King of the Park", in reference to the football field that serves as home to Corinthians; Street View: S23 31.583 W046 34.166).
The 60s and 70s were difficult years for Corinthians, with scarcity of championships. After the defeats to the eternal rivals Palmeiras and São Paulo, in 1974, Rivelino moved to Rio de Janeiro and started to defend the colors of Fluminense in Rio.
Once, just at the start of a game, Rivelino noticed that the opposing team's goalkeeper was kneeling doing his prayers and took the time to shoot directly against the goal, right there from midfield. This episode earns up today fame to Rivelino as the author of the fastest goal in history. Owner of a very powerful left leg shot, it was in the 1970 World Cup, against Czechoslovakia, that Rivelino who earned his famous nickname, "Patada Atomica" ("Atomic Kick").
