Det var skogeigarlaga i Jølster og Førde som tok initiativ til stien. Dei fekk med seg Sogn og Fjordane Skogeigarlag, Sogn og Fjordane Bondelag, landbruksavdelinga hos Fylkesmannen i Sogn og Fjordane, Sogn og Fjordane Skogselskap, Førde kommune, Sunnfjord Museum, Sunnfjord Energi og Mo og Jølster vidaregåande skule i arbeidet.
Terrenget er nesten flatt, og stien er 3,5 km lang. Om ein vil stoppe ved informasjonsskilta, bør ein nok setje av opp mot to timar til turen, men han kan lett gjerast lang eller kort etter ynskje.

Mostien is a culture and nature trail that runs from Movika to the waterfall Huldefossen in the municipality of Førde, Sogn og Fjordane County. Along the path one will pass both museum buildings and displays that convey knowledge of nature, agriculture, forestry and history viewed from a local point of view. The trail is marked with wooden signs.
It was the Forest Owners’ Unions of Jølster and Førde who took the initiative to make the trail. They partnered with Sogn og Fjordane Forest Owners’ Union, Sogn og Fjordane Farmers’ Union, the Agricultural Department of Sogn og Fjordane County Governor’s Office, Sogn og Fjordane Forestry Society, Førde municipality, Sunnfjord Museum, Sunnfjord Energi and Mo og Jølster Upper Secondary School in the work with the trail.
The terrain is almost flat and the trail is 3.5 km long. If one wants to stop at the displays, one should probably allocate up to two hours for the trip, but it can easily be prolonged or shortened.
