Geocache Description:

The church of St Stephen’s is in the village of Upper Basildon close to the Basildon Estate, now owned by the National Trust.  The church is very modern by church standards, being built in the twentieth century. A foundation stone was laid by Lord Iliffe of Basildon Park. The floor plan is in the form of the classic Christian symbol of the fish.

This simple multi takes you to the stone laid by Lord Iliffe and the handsome war memorial. The final cache is a short distance away on a public footpath.

At Stage 1 - the bench

Find the date that Lord Iliffe laid the stone June 19AB.

When was Esma Cope a member of the parish 19CD - 2005?

At Stage 2 - the memorial

Find the soldier listed at the top of the centre slab.

Number of letters in his first name = E. Number of letters in his last name = F.

The cache is located at N 51°28.C(D-C)(D-C) W 001°08.(B+E-F)(A-F)(E-2)

The checksum for the final co-ordinates is 42.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
