Geocache Description:

The land now taken up by Calambeen Lake and Park was home to the Chinese camp in the Gold mining days. However, hydraulic sluicing for gold occurred around 1900. The gouges were filled with water and became two lakes. There is an explanatory plaque by the bridge that links the two lagoons. One is an ideal swimming spot with a diving tower which was used by an olympian in the 1950's and a toddlers' pool. Another is reserved for wildlife and fishing.

This cache is a 1 litre Screw top container and is located near a lovely picnic area that has Bar-B-Q's, tables, chairs and places to swim and fish also a lovely walk around the lake. You can get this cache with a nice walk from the parking co-ordinates at the entrance to the lakes. You do NOT HAVE to enter the Caravan Park at all. Hope you enjoy this area as much as we do.

It was a wet, overcast day when we put this cache out, so hope the co-ords are OK.

If there is a small silver/blue car in the carport above please feel free to come up for a coffee. You are most welcome. Happy Caching, cachers.
