The cache is not at the published coordinates.
The published co-ordinates will take you to the location of this 'Fine Pair'. Unfortunately, the phone box here has seen better days, having been the victim of considerable abuse, and one can only wonder how long it is likely to remain in place.
These phone boxes, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in the 1920's, have become collectors’ items and an example of things quintessentially English. It is sad that those who vandalise them cannot see their beauty.
For more information on the phone boxes, see the Wikipedia entry Red Telephone Box.
Before you will be able to find and log the cache, you need to obtain some information from the letter box:
The first telephone number = 0345 774 JKLM
The postbox number = RH UV XYZ
The cache can be found at N 50° 5A.BCD W 000° 0E.FGH
where:
A = J + K
B = U + V
C = M + Z
D = X + J
E = Y + Z
F = U + V + X
G = L + V
H = K + X
N.B. 06/09/2014 Following a report of the phone number not being available (thanks Mike) for JKLM use 0740
At the time of setting this cache, there were some birds nests with eggs in them in trees near the cache. Please take care when searching not to disturb these nests . . . Thank you.
If anybody would like to extend 'A Fine Pair' series you are welcome to do so but first please contact wizardsmum, the series originator, and request a Pair number as she keeps track of the numbers and names of these caches to avoid duplication.
