Geocache Description:

#16 cache by harrowang

The Springhurst/Byawatha Landcare Group has created a self-guided Eco Tour of sustainable farming, forestry and land management sites in the Springhurst/ Eldorado/Byawatha areas. (Brochures are available from the Wangaratta Visitors' Centre) We thought it would be interesting to highlight some of the features along this Tour with a cache or five. Many of the roads in this series are un-sealed but quite manageable by a 2WD vehicle – the farmers drive them all the time!

This cache series is not designed to be done in any particular order, so you can start and end where you like.

Situated on the Wangaratta-Eldorado Road this 10 hectare hardwood plantation for furniture timber was planted in 1997. The blue gum trees have been pruned to avoid knots in the dressed timber. The estimated harvest time is 2022-2027.

**In August 2019 the plantation was felled for harvesting, so the cache name has been altered accordingly.

There is parking on the roadside on the same side as the plantation, and there is no need to enter private property to retrieve the cache. The ground is uneven from the roadside to GZ and not suitable for wheelchair access. This is a busy road, so please keep a watch on geojuniors and geopooches.

Be aware that muggles may approach from any direction!

The cache is a medium sized bison tube type container and holds a log sheet only. Please bring your own writing implement.

FTF Honours go to: Lostmonster & Co - well done!
