Geocache Description:

A lovely walk along the cliffs of Doonagore Bay near Doolin, Co. Clare. This cliffs are part of the ancient riverbed sediments that created the Cliffs of Moher. This once was an estuary said to be as big in its time as the Mississippi delta today, starting in Doolin and going as far as Loop Head in the southwest of Clare.

The walk from the parking area (trail head) takes about 40 minutes. Maybe quite a bit more if you take your time and peek over the cliff edge every now and again. But please be careful, especially with easterly winds coming from the inland. After about 10 to 15 minutes, a recently created gravel path leads directly onto the cliff edge (in a safe way) which opens up new fantastic views onto terraces of the shore below.
When approaching the cacheand going off-trail, please exercise caution. You will be walking on deep uneven grass above a cliff. This is fairly safe unless you wear very slippy-when-wet-shoes or if it is windy. - I don't recommend the last bit off the trail for small children unless you have them on a leash! :-) Please place the stone again in front of the cache container to hide the container properly from curious looks.

Back on the gravel track, the path leads higher and higher up until you come to the Cliffs themselves (if you want to go that far). But even just going up the hill  that you can see all the way from the trailhead after finding the cache is worth the effort. The view along the cliffs is absolutely breathtaking. A nice spot for a picnic! You can walk now all the way to the Cliffs of Moher visitor centre and beyond, though I would recommend to do the walk from the Cliffs to Doolin (the Cliffs are 200m high, Doolin is at sea level).
