Vereda do Farrobo
O sítio do Farrobo tem uma localização central na freguesia de Gaula. Situa-se numa zona privilegiada com uma excelente vista sobre a Ponta de São Lourenço, com vista panorâmica sobre a pista do Aeroporto e do Oceano Atlântico, avistando-se também as Ilhas Desertas e o Porto Santo.
Neste sítio estão localizados vários serviços públicos como a Junta de Freguesia e o Centro de Saúde de Gaula (renovado em 2011), Multibanco, bem como a unidade hoteleira “Hotel Apartamentos Baía Brava”.
O nome Farrobo, segundo o Elucidário Madeirense provém do nome de uma planta chamada “Ensaião” Sempervivum glutinosum . Esta planta era usada num processo que passava por esfregar as linhas de pesca na casca da planta e depois por urina para lhes conferir maior rigidez e dar a cor negra para dificultar a detecção pelos peixes.

Farrobo is centrally located in the parish of Gaula. It’s situated in a privileged area with excellent views over Ponta de São Lourenço, with panoramic views of the Madeira airport runway, the Atlantic Ocean and also overlooking the Desertas and Porto Santo Islands.
At this place are located several public services such as the Parish Council and the Health Centre of Gaula (renovated in 2011), an ATM, and a hotel unit "Baía Brava Hotel Apartments."
The name Farrobo, according to the Elucidário Madeirense derives from the name of a plant called "Ensaião" Sempervivum glutinosum. This plant was used to scrub the fishing lines with the bark of the plant and then rinse with urine in order to impart greater rigidity and to darken the fishing nets to hinder detection by the fish.
