GRAHAM BENNETT
Graham Bennett was born in 1859 in Yorkshire, England. He 'jumped ship' from the Himalaya in 1877 to try his luck on the goldfields. Graham joined up with Andrew Scott (alias "Captain Moonlight") in 1879, after this former notorious bushranger had crossed the border from Victoria into New South Wales, seeking work for his comrades. After failing to find any employment, they carried out a string of robberies and were finally cornered at Wantabadgery. During the shoot-out Graham's arm was shattered by a police bullet. After the gang surrendered, Graham was tried on 11th December, 1879, and sentenced to death. Fortunately for him the sentence was commuted to life on the roads working in irons. He was transferred to Berrima Gaol in January 1880, and from then on nothing more is known about him.
