Ja Latgalē apmeklēto ezeru skaits ir licies niecīgs, un salu skaits Ežezerā ir šķitis neapmierinoši mazs, un gribas daudz, daudz reižu vairāk, laipni aicināti uz Slapjo Kaķi – pārgājienu tūkstoš salu un ezeru zemē pavisam netālu no Rīgas. Jā, un obligāti visur jāpeld nebūs, bet pastāvēs 100 iespējas saīsināt distanci veicot mazu gabaliņu peldus vai arī varēs lēkt kā Gulivers Liliputijā visiem ezeriem pāri. Taciņas būs tik šauras, ka tās nevarēs saskatīt zem priežu galotnēm, kas arī kalpos par galvenajiem orientieriem apvidū. Jā ceļu diemžēl nebūs, un visa orientēšanās notiks pēc kārtējā ezeriņa vai to sistēmas krasta līnijām.
Apmeklējamo kontrolpunktu skaits ir liels un, tā kā negribas jūs pārāk nogurdināt, tad piedāvāju veikt pārgājienu pa optimālo, uzvarētāju Jāņa Krūmiņa un Salvja Daģa rogaininga marsrutu..
Pārgājienā ieteicams doties vismaz divatā, lai ir kas uzrauga, fotografē, filmē un velk laukā, ja solis ir bijis par īsu. Noteikti nepieciešama arī karte, jo Wherigo iekārtā kontrolpunktu zonas parādīsies tikai kad būsiet tām pietuvojušies līdz apmēram pusei no attāluma starp kontrolpunktiem.
Neaizmirstiet mājās arī:
- Kompasu.
- Ūdensdrošu kartes un Wherigo iekārtas iepakojumu.
- Lukturīti, jo atkarībā no gadalaika, iespējams, redzēsiet arī saulrietu (varbūt arī saullēktu, taču nezinu kādā secībā).
- Rezerves baterijas visām iekārtām, jo pārgājiens var ievilkties.
- Noteikti noderēs arī peldveste.
- Ūdens apkārtnē netrūks, taču paņemiet līdzi arī kādu dzeramā ūdens pudeli un sviestmaizes.
Tā ka taisnākais ceļš no priekšpēdēja kontrolpunkta uz pēdējo šķērso lieguma zonu, kas slēgta no 1.aprīļa līdz 1.novembrim, lūgums šajā periodā uz pēdējo kontrolpunktu doties caur papildus WP "Save Birds", kas parādīsies iekārtā!

If the number of lakes you visited in Latgale seemed small and the number of islands in Ežezers seemed disappointingly insignificant, and you desire a lot more, welcome to the Wet Cat - hiking in the land of thousands of islands and lakes not very far from Riga. Yes, swimming will not be necessary, but there will be 100 chances to shorten the distance by a short swim or you may be able to jump as Gulliver in Lilliput over the lakes. Paths will be so narrow, that you won’t be able to see them under the pine-tops, which will serve as the main landmarks in the area. There will not be any roads, and you will have to orient by lakes or shore lines of their system.
The number of checkpoints is huge and, as I don’t want for you to get tired, then I offer you to go along the optimal rogaining route made by the winners – Jānis Krūmiņš and Salvis Daģis.
It is recommended to make this hike in pairs (or more people) to have someone who supervises, photographs, films and pulls out if the step has been too short. You will definitely also need a map, since in Wherigo the checkpoints will appear only when the distance from you to the checkpoint will be approximately half of the whole distance between the checkpoints.
Don’t forget at home:
- Compass
- Waterproof package for the map and Wherigo
- Flashlight, since, depending on the season, you might also see the sunset (maybe also the sunrise; however, don’t know in which order)
- Spare batteries for all equipment, since the hike may take longer time than you expected
- You will also benefit from a Lifejacket
- Area will not suffer from shortage of water, but take a bottle of drinking water and sandwiches with you.
Since the straightest way to the last checkpoint from the previous one is trough Protection area, which is closed from April 1st till November 1st , I would request you to go to the last checkpoint trough additional WP “Save Birds”, which will appear in your device!
