Geocache Description:

The Awbridge Puzzle Trail is a series of 10 puzzles caches on a circuit of about 3.5 miles. Most, but not all, of the puzzles have a mathematical bent.

The circuit is mostly on public footpaths, bridleways and lanes but there is a stretch at the end along the busy Danes Road which you will also need to cross twice. There is plenty of on-road parking at the Northern end of Danes Road, as long as you avoid school drop off times.

The cache containers are fairly standard film canisters or small boxes – and most of the hides are pretty straightforward as well. Because I want to make sure those who solve the puzzles can find them the hints are also quite explicit. You will need to bring your own pen / pencil.

Many of the footpaths are over-grown and under-used so I’ve provided a description of the route. There are currently a couple of trees felled in a recent storm which you might need to clamber over. The route will take you close to our first cache (GC93BW9)

The circuit starts off on a public footpath running South from the Romsey Road just West of the junction with Danes Road. You then need to cross over the next footpath, to find the footpath ahead of you slightly to your left. When you hit the lane turn right then left just after the phone box onto the Bridleway, which will bring you to the edge of the golf course. Here the path seems to veer right but in fact you need to climb over the tree that has fallen over as the path actually takes you though the, now closed, golf course. After you come down the drive to the golf course turn right onto Danes Road and cross over after about 500ft to the footpath on the other side off the road. Head down this footpath until you come out on Church Lane / Coombe Lane. Then turn right and take the footpath on your left after 0.15 miles. This will eventually bring you back onto Church Lane – where you turn left to eventually bring you back to Danes Road and then the parking spot.

I’ve taken a few GPS readings but because of tree cover they have moved around a bit. The hints should be enough to help you find the cache but if you get hugely different readings email them to me and I will update accordingly.

As these are the first puzzle caches we have set we’re not sure about the D/T ratings so if you’ve got any views on that please let us know as well.
