Geocache Description:

Ideja Ventspilī uzcelt pieminekli komunistiskā terora upuriem radās 1991.gadā politiski represēto vidū, to atbalstīja toreizējie tautas deputāti.  1941.gadā no Ventspils pilsētas un apriņķa izsūtīja 847 cilvēkus, bet 1949.gadā represēto skaits sasniedza jau 2055.
Pats  slēpnis atrodas netālu no pieminekļa. Nemiet līdz savu rakstāmo.
[ENG] In Ventspils, on the left bank of the Venta, opposite the railway station, at Tilta Dārzs (park of bridge) is a monument to the victims of communist terror. Monument there is from june 14, 1997. Gray, rough granite ribbed one plane directed to the east and the hollow cross and the words remind you of those who on the nearby railway tracks was deported to the death camps of Siberia. Equally tragic simple is opposite edge with slited vertical line and the crown of thorns as a symbol of the people who were forced to go from here across the sea of distress and humiliation the crowded refugees. Trail around the hill with rough stones symbolizes Calvary road. Author of the monument is Andrejs Jansons from Cēsis, Architect - Daiga Kušķe from Ventspils. Idea to build a monument to the victims of communist terror in 1991 comes from politically repressed people, supported by government. In 1941 from Ventspils was deported 847 people, but in 1949 already 2055. Cache is near the monument. Take your own pen.
