Country roads
I fondly remember my folks driving us kids around the countryside on the week-ends. We would go in the fall to see the wonderful colors of the trees, the winter would bring a beautiful soft white blanket, and the spring brought us early flowers, the farmers planting crops, young calves and ponies in the fields.
We would stop at Harmers café up in Edgerton for lunch, fresh pies every day, the ladies in the kitchen wearing their handmade aprons, cooking just for us.
Mom would stop at a farm on the way home to pick up fresh eggs, while Dad would tell us stories of how smart and crafty the crows were, and how they were attracted to shiny bits of metal, always a sentry high up in a tree, alerting the rest of the bunch when danger is near. I often think of our times together when out in the country, I learned so much from them.
This cache is for mom and dad.
