Torre Cala d`en Basset
DE: Der 1583 errichtete Wachturm hatte eine besondere Bedeutung, da die Piraten mit Vorliebe im Bereich zwischen der Insel Dragonera und dem Westkap Mallorcas ankerten. Von der Cala en Basset, der verborgenen Kiesbucht unterhalb des Turmes, begannen sie oft ihre Raubzüge ins Tal von S’Arracó und bis Andratx hinüber. Bei einem dieser Gemetzel zerstörten sie sogar ein ganzes Dorf am Fuße des Puig d’en Farineta. Später entstand neben dem Turm ein kleines Gebäude, in dem wohl Munition gelagert wurde. Im bewaldeten Hügelland nördlich von Sant Elm besteht ein ganzes Netz verzweigter Wege und Pfade, die zum Turm und zur Bucht führen.

EN: Built in 1583, this watchtower has special significance as the pirates took a preference to anchoring in the area between the island of Dragonera and the western tip of Mallorca. Using the hidden pebble bay of Cala en Basset underneath the tower as a landing site, the pirates used to set out on their raids into the valley of S'Arracó as well as right into Andratx. During one of these massacres, they even destroyed an entire village at the foot of the Puig d'en Farinetamountain. A small building was subsequently erected next to the tower, which probably stored ammunition. The wooded hills north of Sant Elm host an entire network of paths and trails that lead to the tower and the bay below it.

später auch wieder hinauf.

Unbedingt ein Helm, 30 Meter Einfachseil, Abseilachter oder
anderes Abseilgerät, diverse Prusik-Schlingen oder anderes
Gerät zum Aufsteigen am Seil
...und natürlich: Kenntnisse im Ab - und Aufseilen.

Without basic climbing gear it is impossible to reach the
cache, because you have to get down and up on your rope.
All what you do is on your own responsibility
and on your own risk!
Required equipment:
Absolutely a helmet, 30 meters single rope,
roping figure eight or other rope equipment to lower,
and equipment for ascending at the rope.
And first of all: Knowledge in ascending and lower on rope.
