This cache is being placed as a memorial to Borders Books & Music.
I got the idea for what became a series of 16 caches from my wife's former workplace. She was employed at Borders Books & Music in Bridgewater, NJ, from 2002 through 2006. Borders, of course, was one of the United States' two largest brick and mortar bookstores. However, due to overexpansion, bad management, and the surge of Amazon as a book purveyor and e-book leader, Borders was forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The owners were unable to find a buyer for the company, and all its retail locations closed by September 2011.
In order to honor the memory of the good times both she and I had here, I'm placing a series of caches at each of New Jersey's retail locations.
My wife and I never visited the Mt. Laurel store. I'm not even sure I ever knew it was here. We don't usually visit this area of this state.
I wish I could say you could see the store from where the cache is, but this was the closest hiding place I could find. The rest of the mall looks interesting, and I can personally attest to the tastiness of one of the sandwich shops - yum!
Please bring a writing implement, and remember to re-hide the cache where you found it.
