This series of 65 puzzle caches has been placed to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Each ring is set by different cachers and contains 11 or 12 hides plus a bonus. The whole design is over 4km across. You will need to find all caches for a ring in order to find the bonus and complete the ring.
There are three Medal caches above the rings, Bronze, Silver and Gold. See the Bonus cache descriptions for how to find them. See the Gold Medal cache page for full series credits.

Parking
Two significant, free, parking locations have been added as waypoints on all the Yellow Ring caches. These are not necessarily the best place to park for all the caches, but you should consider them seriously where they are reasonably near the final co-ordinates you have successfully had confirmed by GeoCheck. Where more appropriate parking locations are available, some of these have been noted as parking waypoints in Geocheck. You may be able to download these.
At the time of placing, the cache contains the logbook, a small pencil and sharpener (though best to bring your own pen), and a few swaps including some Olympic/Paralympic goodies!
Paralympic hosts
The coordinates for the cache will be found by solving the puzzle above and obtaining numbers for the letters around the edge of the grid.
Step 1: Fill in the missing flags 1 - 5 using the hints given below
Step 2: Solve the puzzle grid according to these rules:
1. Some squares must be shaded so that no unshaded square is repeated in a row or column. (Only shade squares that need to be shaded)
2. No shaded square can touch any other shaded square horizontally or vertically (they may touch diagonally however) .
3. You must be able to 'travel' from any unshaded square to any other unshaded square simply by moving left/right/up/down from unshaded square to unshaded square.
Step 3: The number values for the letters A - X are given by the number of shaded squares in each row/column)
Missing flags are those of the countries where the following Paralympic successes took place:
1. Great Britain won its first ever Boccia team gold medal.
2. Rowing is the newest sport on the Paralympic programme. The first Paralympic rowing competition was held here.
3. The most successful Paralympic Games ever for Paralympics GB with a final tally of 42 gold medals.
4. Britain's youngest ever gold medallist, Joanne Round, won swimming relay gold at the age of 12.
5. Swimmer Chris Holmes won nine gold medals including six in one Games, the largest medal haul at a single Paralympic Games by a British Paralympian ever.

Update: This cache is placed 100% on the line of a footpath and there can be no reason to stray from the path to find it. In order to reach the cache from the west, you will need to walk along a footpath that follows a private farm lane.
Under no circumstances should anyone going to the cache drive up the lane to the cache location or park on it. Following a couple of incidents leading to the farmer removing the cache, he has agreed to its replacement on condition that cachers walk up the lane. . . There is now a temporary sign at the end of the lane saying PRIVATE KEEP OUT. This applied to cars , not walkers.
There are one (two at a pinch) places to park on the side of a small road on the western side of the main road by which you approach the private drive. Actually the better way to approach is from the east, but that depends on how many caches you are looking for!
