Geocache Description:

Ebenezers Chapel can be found on the northern fringe of the village of Smallfield. To give it it's full original title, it is Ebenezers Strict Gospel Standard and Particular Baptist Chapel.

Ebenezer Chapel is a small one story building, founded, I would guess by the inscription on the door in 1851. Although no longer in use as a church, the building was bought in 2009 by the Village Veterinary Centre and after extensive internal refurbishment now operates as a Vets. The outside of the building has remained virtually unchanged and still bears the Ebenezer Chapel 1851 inscription on the outside wall.

Outside, the graveyard remains and appears to be very well kept despite the demise of the church itself.

I have struggled to find hardly any history surrounding the church, if anyone has any knowledge or could point me towards any further information, I would be very grateful and quite happily amend this listing to be more comprehensive, and of course acknowledge any help I was given.

Although there is parking in the Church grounds, the car park is very small and during surgery hours in constant use. Also I would not advise to park on Chapel Road itself, although there are grass verges on the opposite side of the road that can be used, but please park considerately.

The above coordinates will take you to the edge of the church grounds where you will find the following information needed to work out the cache location. The information can be gathered without having to enter the church grounds, although I do recommend you have a look around the graveyard if you have time.

Look for the headstone of William Wells

William died July A3 1BC0 aged 6D

His wife, Ann, died April E 1F80 aged 73

The final cache location can be found at:

N51° 10.CEA W000° 06.BDF

You are looking for a 35mm container hidden a short walk away

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
