Geocache Description:

This is a micro cache in disguise in Oldmoor Wood. Take your own pencil.

Considering Nottingham city centre is a mere five miles away, Oldmoor Wood lies in a surprisingly rural area, part of an undulating landscape of farmland, hedgerows and small woods. The wood itself is mainly flat with an attractive combination of high forest and open glades with dense scrub along the south west boundary. A network of tracks form easy circular walks through the wood.

There is a good variety of trees, the dominant canopy being oak, ash, sycamore and beech with an understorey including holly, rowan, blackthorn and hawthorn.

Bluebells, dense in patches, are scattered throughout the wood where you can also find wood anemone, wood-sorrel, lesser celandine and creeping jenny. Within the wood is a small circular pond, with beautiful old yews standing on its central island.

Oldmoor Wood is owned & managed by The Woodland Trust from whom permission has been granted to hide this cache. Please take special care not to disturb flora and fauna when in the woods and KEEP OFF the Bluebells while looking for the cache . After rain the paths can be very muddy. Wellies strongly recommended!

3 GPS devices were used to determine the co-ords given & they all gave VERY close readings after averaging for over 5 minutes. However, tree cover makes this difficult for satelite reliability and the following alternative co-ords have been suggested: N 52° 58.375 W 001° 15.720

How to get there.
There is ample parking at: N52º 58.509 W001º 15.954 but do not park any nearer to the cache site, the residents don't like it!
