Geocache Description:

This is (almost) the first in a series of caches geared (pardon the pun) toward geocaching by mountain bike. While all of the caches can be accessed on foot, they are generally on or near mountain bike trails, and may be a bit further from parking than most would like to walk.

This is a re-hide of my first cache: Doc's Mountain Biking #1, originally hidden in October 2006. It had to be archived in 2010 when the park closed permanently. Fortunately though, a passed levy has allowed this park to re-open, allowing me to verify the cache is intact and ready to be found again. If you found the last one, this one is further down the trail so as not to crowd a new one in the area. Feel free to find it again. It's a new log though, so don't cheat. Visit and sign again.

Spring Update (4/30/2012) There is plenty of stinging nettle between the trail and this cache. Long pants suggested. You have been warned!

----- Original Info --------
This cache is located off one of the trails in the Woodsdale Park trail system and was placed with permission. It is not suitable for a road bike. Later caches in the series will probably be farther from parking. This one is not a significant distance, so is suitable for non-bikers. Please stay on the trail until within 100 ft of the cache. The cache was placed in the fall, and no significant bushwacking was required, but the area may be more overgrown in the spring. You were warned :-) The cache is also located in an area that should not be susceptable to the routine spring flooding in the area, so it should be available year round. The Woodsdale Park trail system is not a long or difficult trail system by any mountain bike rating system, but if you're in the mood for a short scenic ride through the woods, this is the place! This is my first cache, and I'd appreciate feedback on the listing, the cache itself, or it's location. You're looking for the traditional ammo can. The cache was initially stocked with new Matchbox vehicles (in the package) in the spirit of quality, not quantity. I intend to keep my logs, so please try to keep the custom log in good condition. Finding the cache just to log it is also welcome.

FLOOD NOTE: This area is not far from the Great Miami River and the area does flood, causing the park to close due to high water. If the river is up, you may not be able to get this one. The cache is flood resistant and is cable tethered to it's hiding place, so in the unlikely event the hiding place goes under, the cache should remain in place.

Placement Approval:

This cache was originally placed in 2006. Since that time (apparently in 2010) Butler Co Metroparks has developed a geocache placement policy. In compliance with that policy, we have obtained registration and permission for this cache and will renew it in accordance with the policy. You may view the approved application for this cache here.
