This geocache is accessible by foot or bike; it is 300 yards away from the bottom of De Vere Road where you can park if you are just doing this cache. The track is flattened earth and is possible with a buggy but not in wet weather. There Are a few tree roots and there may be nettles in Summer. It is just off the public footpath known as "The Town Walk".
This is one in a series of caches, some are part of a multicache, some are traditional. It is designed to be an easy stroll of a couple of miles and is suitable for children. Take a pencil or pen as some are nanos.
If you’re doing the series, park in the Bull Ring car park. There are places you can have tea and cake or several family-friendly pubs in the High Street.
Thrapston had two railway lines and two stations:
Bridge Street Station was on the London & North Western Railway line between Northampton and Peterborough
Bridge Street station was closed to passengers on the fourth of May 1964. Goods traffic was phased out between then and 1972.
In 1972, the former Parish Council bought 1.25 acres of land on this site and the old train line was made into the Town Walk.
Once you've found the cache, if you're not doing No 5, you can carry on along the track to Titchmarsh Nature Reserve which has designated footpaths, it's a couple of miles and is muddy after rain.
If you're going to No 5 The Mill, then retrace your steps and turn right at the end of the railway path. This then takes you over a footbridge and on to No 5.
