Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of Doctor Who caches - placed because Doctor Who is the best TV show ever!

Originally, there were 9 caches in the series. At 8 of the caches you collected a clue that helped lead you to the final cache in the series. This cache contained Clue #5 (and was a celebration of us finding our 500th find!). However, since 6 of the caches in the series - including the final cache - have been archived, there is no longer a puzzle to be solved.

Easy free two hour parking is available in the Whistler Street Car Park adjacent to the library, or in various other council car parks located in Manly.

Silence in the Library Synopsis (Doctor Who Series 4, Episode 8):

The Doctor and Donna land in the 51st century to visit the greatest library in the universe. The Doctor is somewhat taken aback however to find there is no one there. To the best he can determine, the library has been closed for 100 years. So the arrival of a team of archaeologists comes as something of a surprise. A wealthy amateur has paid for the private expedition, but the expert leader of the group is Dr. River Song. Although the Doctor doesn't know her, it soon becomes apparent that she knows him quite well having met him in another time. All of them however come into danger when they make contact with a young girl who communicates with them through her television. The encounter has consequences for Donna in particular who seems to have been absorbed into the library.

Cache Information

Silence in the Library is a multi-cache. The listed coordinates are for Manly Library, which is the geozone where the cache is located. A huge thank you to Manly Library for allowing us to place our cache here. Please be respectful of the location and adhere to the rule of Silence in the Library!

Please be careful when opening the cache in order not to damage it. It may be a bit tricky for geokids (both young and old!) to open. Also, please follow the rules located inside the cache when closing it.

The cache is a regular sized container which contains a TB, some swaps, and a two dollar coin for the FTF. Special thanks to my mum for all her work on this cache!

Please Note: The cache can only be found during the library’s opening hours.

About Manly Library

The history of the Manly Library goes back to the 1950’s. In 1975 it moved from the Literary Institute Building in Wentworth Street, to a converted shop-front across the road. The library remained in this “temporary” accommodation for 20 years.

In 1995 a three story purpose-built library of nearly three times the size, was built in Market Place - where it remains today. The building was designed by celebrated architect, Felko Bouman, who was charged with transforming a back alley into a bustling piazza.

The library is located in the heart of Manly. The building envelops one side of the Whistler Street Car Park, integrating access from vehicle to public foyers. The foyer area has been further enhanced by the inspired glass sculpture, donated by local artist Warren Langley.

Manly Library is the cultural hub of the community, offering access to information for all.
