D=Distances & discotheques
To find this easy cache, you will have to travel to the edge of Kouvola. So let´s talk a little bit about the distances in our home town. The biggest distance of borderlines is over 80 km. Nobody has counted the lenght of hole borderline, but it is somewhere between 300 and 400 kilometres. It would take about 6 hours to drive around Kouvola. From this cache, it´s under 20 kilometres to the Baltic sea. From four edge points only one is on the ground. Discotheques? Local farmers have their own club house in reference point. From year 1983 to year 1994 that place was very popular disco once in a month. So D is also for Duran Duran, Dingo and of course discofights between Ruukki and Elimäki...

FIN: Tämä helppo kätkö vie sinut aivan Kouvolan reunalle. Matkaa merelle on alle 20km. Huoltomatkaakin kertyy sen verran reilusti, että sulkekaahan purkki huolella. Discotheques? Niin, vuosina 1983-1994 reference pointina oleva Ruotsinkylän maamiesseurantalo oli hyvin suosittu diskopaikka. Keskimäärin porukkaa oli paikalla 300-500,pääsiäisdiskossa 1989 noin tuhat, jolloin autoja oli Kuninkaankylään asti. D tulee siis myös sanoista Duran Duran, Dingo, DJ Hessu ja diskotappelut (Ruukki vs. Elimäki). 17.9.2011 tapahtuma herätettin henkiin vielä kerran. Siitä tässä: (visit link) Lähistöllä myös kotiseutumuseo eikä upeaan Strömforsin Ruukkiinkaan paljolti matkaa ole.

Pinta-ala 2 871 km², josta 328 km² on vettä, kaikkiaan 450 järvessä (entisessä Kouvolassa järviä oli 450 vähemmän). Suomen 19. suurikokoisin kaupunki. Asukasluvussa olemme sijalla 10 noin 87500 asukkaalla. Edellisten osamäärässä eli asukastiheydessä olemme onneksi vasta sijalla 66 (34,24 hlö/km²).
