SLO: Na skalnem robu (imenovanem tudi Turški stolp) nad vasjo Črni Kal se nahajajo ostanki starega gradu iz 11. stoletja, ki ga je dal sezidati grof Urlik I, z namenom obvladovanja ceste iz Rižanske doline proti notranjosti.
Med beneško - avstrijsko vojno je oktobra 1511 grad zasedel grof Krištof Frankopan, ki se je že leto prej utaboril s svojo vojsko nad Črnim Kalom, ter od tam začel svoj napad.
Po mirovnem sporazumu med Beneško republiko in Habsburžani deset let pozneje je grad pripadel socerbskemu gospostvu in bil z okrajem vred priključen deželi Kranjski.
ENG: On the brow of the hill (also called the Turkish tower) above the village of Črni Kal are the remains of the old castle from the 11th century, built by count Urlik I, in order to oversee and control the road from Rižana valley towards the back country (hinterland).
During the Venetian - Austrian war in October 1511, the castle was occupied by count Krištof Frankopan, who a year earlier had encamped there with his army and had begun his attack from there.
After the peace agreement between the Republic of Venice and the Habsburgs, ten years later, the castle belonged to Socerb nobility and was under the jurisdiction of Carniola.
Please bring your own pen. Enjoy the awesome view from the ruins of the castle. On a clear day the entire Slovene coast is at your feet. Happy hunting!
PS: If you are into rockclimbing, bring your gear. The limestone walls under the castle remains are one of the most favourite climbing sites in Slovenia.
