Gent heeft veel te bieden zowel voor wie hier al jaren woont als voor de toevallige toerist. Naast de vele mooie historische gebouwen, de romantische kanalen en de groene parken, vind je er ook heel wat kleine, vaak verscholen steegjes! Met deze reeks ‘Steegjes in Gent / Alleys in Ghent‘ laten we je kennis maken met enkele van deze steegjes. Om je op je gemak te voelen, bezoek je deze steegjes best alleen overdag...
Dit steegje in het centrum van Gent is één grote, legale graffiti muur. Sommige experts hebben geen al te hoge dunk van deze plek, omdat bestaande graffiti er gemakkelijk wordt overspoten met andere graffiti. Anderzijds betekent dit ook dat je er haast dagelijks nieuwe creaties kan ontdekken. Hoewel het een vrij smal steegje is, is het toch een geweldige plek om foto's van jezelf te nemen, poserend voor een stukje graffiti kunst. Het is een ontspannen en veilige plek om rond te wandelen.
Ben je met de wagen, dan parkeer je best onder de Vrijdagmarkt op nog geen 100 meter van dit steegje. Het steegje heet de Werregarenstraat en vormt een verbindingsweg tussen de Onderstraat en de Hoogpoort. Fietsers zijn er ook toegelaten maar pas er voor op dat je geen kunstenaars omver rijdt!

This alley is one big legal graffiti wall right in the center of Ghent. Some experts don’t really think highly of this place because your graffiti gets tagged up with other graffiti but on the other hand this also means you can discover now creations almost daily. Although it’s a rather narrow alley, it’s a great place to take pictures of you in front of some nice graffiti art. It’s a very chilled and safe place to stroll around.
Parking your car is best done under the Vrijdagmarkt (Friday Market ) at less than 100 meters from the alley. The alley itself is called the Werregaren straat and connects the Onderstraat (Lower Street) and Hoogpoort (High Gate). Cyclists are also allowed, but watch out not to drive down artists in action!
