Eagle Hill is a section of Rockefeller State Park that offers commanding views of the Hudson River and Tappan Zee Bridge from the serenity of natural surroundings. An average hike for an above-average Lower Hudson experience.
There used to be a cache here, but it went missing years ago. Taxman and I spoke of exploring to see if it was still hiding in place. I went alone one evening and saw no trace of it, so he never came up. Inspired by what I saw 2 years ago, this place was my first thought when ScienceGirl (Taxman's partner in crime) asked if I would hide a special cache for him to celebrate a certain milestone. Brace yourself: this container is not tax exempt.
You are looking for a camo-painted lock-n-lock bearing permit # RSPP-21. Parking is available on Sleepy Hollow Road, Gory Brook Road, and at the Visitor's Center for $6. The park is open dawn-dusk. Watch for people riding horseback and keep your dogs on a leash. Stick to the trails; no serious bushwhacking required. Cache In Trash Out, if you can.
Wherever your journey in life is heading, make sure to take a moment and embrace the world around you. This location is perfect for that, and maybe you'll get to see an eagle too!
