How to Get There?
If you come by car, check out the waypoint that marks the turn from Route 6!
If you have plenty of time and you like to hike or bike then it is an excellent choice to come on the trail connecting Szekszárd with Bonyhád, marked by a yellow stripe 
. Whichever direction you approach from you will be rewarded by a picturesque view.
Where is it?
I am inviting you to Canada with this hide, namely to Ladomány, a renascent, beautifully situated small village in Tolna county.
Why is it "Canada"? Because at the turn of the last century people from the nearby villages were mocking Ladomány with this name. They considered it rich and far away from everything. If you are not looking for it, it is still hard to find your way here, don't hope to see a road sign. Getting here is still a bit of an adventure.
Turn off Route 6 at the bus stop at Bonyhádszerdahely! The narrow concrete road crosses the fish ponds of Széptölgyes where it is worth to stop for a few minutes and admire the scenery, depending on the season and part of the day. Several award winnning pictures have been taken here.
Soon we get in to the small village that has only one street. The best is to leave your car near the chapel and walk around. We will see old architecture and new, crumbling stone cross, and renewed. It is well worth visiting the small graveyard with its tombstones with beautiful Gothic engravings.
The cache is about 300 meters from the chapel, on the hillside, from where you will have a lovely view of "Canada".
The Short History of Ladomány
As many villages in Tolna county, Ladomány was populates by German settlers after the Turkish wars, in the first half of the 1700s. The new settlers revived the village.
One hundred and fifty people lived here in the 1930s, it had a natty church, undivided school, reading circle, post office, shop.
The fracture happened in 1946 when the majority of the ethnic German villagers were expelled. They were replaced by Hungarian families who were forced to move from Czechoslovakia. These families started to leave the village in the 1970s. The lack of an access road halted development in those days. Some elderly people stayed, but soon they gave up, too. The empty houses and barns were torn down, useful construction material was taken away. Hardly any houses were left.
By 1990 the village became uninhabited - if not counting two seasonally used houses.
Change came, when the town of Bonyhád (where Ladomány has officially belonged to since the 1940s) received government support to build the so desired access road. After the road was built, Ladomány slowly came to life. A small success story has started. First the ruined church of St. John of Nepomuk was renovated with the help of Germans descended from the village, then the "Fazekas" Cross was erected next to it, commemorating the release from the labor camps (after the second WW).
Later new plots were established. More and more new houses were built and a few old peasant houses were renovated.
Nowadays nothing reminds us of the grim past. Strangers passing by see an orderly village, but even people familiar with the area are surprised when realizing this unexpected rebirth.
