Avala is a mountain in Serbia, overlooking Belgrade. It is situated in the south-eastern corner of the city and provides a great panoramic view to Belgrade, Vojvodina and Sumadija, as the surrounding area on all sides is mostly a lowlands. It stands at 511 meters (1,677 ft) above sea level, which means it enters the mountain category just by 11 meters.
Avala is very popular destination for Belgrade cyclist. There you can almost always see some of them. From Belgrade you have to ride some 15-20km. Route goes up to the foot of Avala, and then real climb begin – 4km with average slope of 5%. This is not big thing for professional cyclist, but for recreational cyclist it can be a real challenge.
Cache is located at a start of real climb. Here you can rest a little, drink some water or eat something, and then go up. Best climbing time is about 8min 30 sec, you can compare your time with it. Cache is small bottle, bring your pen with you, please. There can be a lot of muggles, be very careful.
