Die Schleuse ist gebaut worden um die Wasserkraft optimal durch die Industrie zu nutzen. Bring dein Schreibzeug mit. Bitte wieder dort verstecken wo Du Ihn gefunden hast, sonst kann er entdeck werden. The sluise was built by the industry to maximize its water power. Bring your own pencil. Die Schüss (französisch La Suze) ist ein 42 km langer Fluss im Berner Jura. Ihre Quelle liegt oberhalb des Weilers Le Cerf zuoberst im Vallon de Saint-Imier, einem der Längstäler des Faltenjuras auf 966 m. Die Schüss folgt dem Tal in nordöstlicher, später östlicher Richtung bis Reuchenette. Hier bricht die Schüss in einer klassischen Juraklus nach Süden durch. Kurz bevor sie in das Mittelland hinaustritt, bildet sie die Taubenlochschlucht. Der Wanderweg durch die Schlucht musste wegen der drohenden Steinschlaggefahr schon mehrfach geschlossen werden. Die Schüss fliesst darauf durch Biel/Bienne, wo ihre Wasserkraft im Zeitalter der Industrialisierung intensiv genutzt wurde. In Biel teilt sich die Schüss bei der Schleuse in zwei natürliche und einen künstlich angelegten Arm. Der südliche – die Madretschschüss – fliesst direkt in die Zihl, der nördliche Arm – Die Bielschüss – unterquert die Altstadt, bevor er sich mit dem künstlich angelegten Schüss-Kanal vereinigt. In Biel/Bienne, the Schüss is divided on the sluice into two natural and one artificial arms. The southern - the Madretschschüss - flows directly into the Zihl, the Northern arm - the Bielschüss - under the old town before it joins with the artificial Schüss canal.
