Thanks to the Lunch Club, this cache was ready to be placed when we
found it! An easy drive and access, this cache is placed near one
of the former Titan II missile sites, deactivated >20 years ago.
For you history buffs, this is Site 12 - Complex # 570-3. This site
is not gated or posted, and no underground access noted. There is a
missile site that was preserved for underground tours near Green
Valley, AZ. See link below.
GENERAL TITAN INFO:
The majority of the Titan II sites in Arizona are privately owned.
Under Arizona Law you must obtain permission from the property
owner before entering some sites. The underground complexes were
destroyed in the late 1980's and are in general not accessible.
KEEP OUT! If you find one that is open and decide to enter, you do
so at your own risk. The interior maybe filled with rubble or
flooded and the air within may not be breathable. At least one of
the abandoned sites and the communications complex on Mt. Lemmon
are still owned by US Government.
