the jailhouse Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

LavaLizard: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If the cache owner wishes to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

The geocache is located along a trail that connects Coal Oil Point to Isla Vista.

Very close to this cache, on the beach, is the ruined 1920s Campbell beach house known by the locals as "the jailhouse". This structure is normally covered in graffiti but I was fortunate to see "the jailhouse" with some very neat artwork.

The trail starts at Del Playa Drive and Camino Majorca, located in the southwest corner of Isla Vista. Parking is found along the street. The half mile trail parallels the bluffs and ends at Coal Oil Point. The Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve has much to offer and don't forget your camera.

The cache is located among some trees on the bluffs in a small lock & lock container with a log, pen, pencil, and some nice geocoins.
